G20 Forward: How can world leaders realize
the mandates of the 2020 G20? -
FII 4th Edition - Day 2
28 Oct 2021
The G20 is crucial for the global economy, debt management, public health, and climate sustainability, representing 80% of global trade and two-thirds of the world's population. It played a critical role during the global financial crisis and continues to be essential for the future. The decision to convene G20 leaders in March last year resulted in support for initiatives such as COVAX and the Debt Suspension Service Initiative (DSSI). The commitment of member states, particularly China and the United States, is vital for the effectiveness of the G20. An early convening of the G20 during the Italian presidency is necessary to address challenges related to vaccine distribution, global macroeconomic management, and concerted action on climate change. Challenges also include the delivery and distribution of vaccine supplies and other global issues.
